Poplar plywood has been replaced by Basswood plywood
A lightweight plywood with a low formaldehyde content. Poplar is a soft wood species with a light color.
Properties
Poplar is a soft wood species that, due to its low weight, can be laser-cut to a greater thickness than, for example, birch. Absolutely speaking, it is less stiff and strong than birch plywood, but the availability of thick sheets allows for larger objects to be made.
Applications
This material is suitable for load-bearing applications such as model airplanes, (large) boat models, and art installations. It is also a suitable choice for signboards and similar items (provided they are finished for outdoor use).
