Description
A thin, transparent and strong film ideal for precision applications in electronics, product design as well as art. With our online laser cutting service, you can have acetate film laser cut to your drawing for all your products and projects.
What is acetate film?
Acetate film, also known as cellulose acetate is a transparent material with a glossy finish, similar to PETG, but with some different properties. It is usually produced in thin sheets or rolls and you can laser cut from various thicknesses from 0.1 (100 μ) to 0.5mm (500 μ).
Properties of acetate film:
- Transparency and gloss: Acetate film has high clarity and gloss, making it an attractive choice for applications where appearance is important, such as in art and design.
- Flexibility and durability: Despite its thin film thicknesses, acetate film is surprisingly flexible and durable, making it suitable for applications requiring ductility and resilience.
- Weather resistance: Acetate film is resistant to the effects of moisture and other weather conditions, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
- Easy to work with: The material is easy to edit, for example by cutting, trimming, bending and forming.
- Accurate thickness and thickness tolerance: Acetate film is available in a wide range of thicknesses, ranging from 0.1mm to 0.5mm and more. The thickness tolerance is generally quite small, making it possible to create precise layer thicknesses in product designs.
Applications of acetate film:
- Stencils and molds: Because acetate film is thin, transparent and strong, you can use it to make stencils very well. By laser cutting it, you can make complex shapes and small details.
- Electronics: Acetate film is used as insulator and shields of electronic components because of its insulating properties and lightweight nature.
- Industrial labels and stencils: Because of its ability to be easily printed and cut, acetate film is used for making labels, stencils and identifiers in industrial environments.
- Medical devices and instruments: In the medical sector, acetate film is used to produce various devices and instruments because of its hygienic properties and compatibility with sterilization methods.
