Which engraving laminate is right for your project?

Our range of engraving laminates has been significantly expanded. Our trusted ABS Engraving Laminate has been renamed: Economy engraving laminate. Additionally, we now have three new engraving materials: Premium engraving laminate, Transparent engraving laminate, and Engraving foil.

This suddenly opens up many more possibilities. A UV-resistant engraving laminate for outdoor use, a transparent variant you can play with light, or a thin foil you can stick directly onto something after engraving.

But which engraving laminate do you need for your design? The biggest difference lies in the application. We’ve outlined the four options for you.

Economy engraving laminate: ABS engraving laminate for indoor use

You might already know Economy engraving laminate as ABS Engraving Laminate. This laminate is made of two contrasting colour layers. You engrave away the thin top layer, revealing the core colour.

Economy is available in many different colours, including metallic gold, silver, and bronze. This makes it a versatile choice for nameplates, type plates, signage, and other visual applications.

The material can discolour in direct sunlight. For outdoor use, you should therefore choose Premium.

Choose Economy if: you're looking for an affordable, high-contrast engraving laminate for indoor use and want a wide choice of colours.

Premium engraving laminate: scratch and weather-resistant (100% acrylic)

Premium engraving laminate is one of the new additions to our range. This laminate is intended for applications where higher quality and UV resistance are important.

Premium is made from PMMA (acrylic), is UV-resistant, and suitable for outdoor use. It is more scratch-resistant than Economy engraving laminate. These laminates consist of two colour layers. When you engrave the top layer, the contrasting underlayer appears.

It is suitable for house number plates, signage, and outdoor information boards, but also for industrial applications such as type plates and machine panels.

Premium is a bit more expensive than Economy, but in return, you get a more durable material.

Choose Premium if: UV resistance, scratch resistance, and a long lifespan are important.

Transparent engraving laminate: allows light through the engravings

Transparent engraving laminate is perhaps the most striking addition. Instead of two contrasting colour layers, this is a transparent laminate with a coloured top layer. When you engrave away the coloured layer, a matte, translucent engraving is created.

Transparent engraving laminate is made from acrylic (PMMA), is suitable for outdoor use, and UV-resistant.

You can do interesting things with it. For example, place a light source behind the laminate or allow LED light to enter from the side to illuminate your engraving.

This makes this laminate interesting for illuminated nameplates, dashboards, logos, and other edge-lit applications.

Choose Transparent engraving laminate if: transparency, light, or a highly consistent sheet thickness are part of your design.

Engraving foil: ready-made stickers in any shape

Engraving foil is also new and quite different from our usual laminates. The material is only 0.2 mm thick, flexible, and features a self-adhesive backing.

Engraving foil is made from acrylic (PMMA), is suitable for outdoor use, and UV-resistant.

You can engrave and laser cut the foil, then directly stick the cut-out part onto another surface. Because the material is flexible, this works not only on flat surfaces but also on round or curved shapes.

Think of applications like labels, tool markings, name tags, instruction labels, or QR codes.

Choose Engraving foil if: you want a thin, flexible engraving you can stick directly onto something.
