Good news, PET felt is now also available in large format at Snijlab. This means you can have parts laser cut up to 240 × 120 cm.
Our PET felt stock has been expanded with full furniture boards. This allows us to process these colorful and acoustic boards on our large-format laser cutters: the SPOTmaxis. Now you can cut large wall panels, room dividers, displays, and other objects from a single piece.
What is PET Felt?
Design tests in PET felt
PET felt is a strong, lightweight, and sound-absorbing sheet material made from polyester fibers. It consists of approximately 70% recycled PET, originating from used PET bottles, among other sources.
The material is lightweight but surprisingly sturdy. Thanks to its combination of dimensional stability, low weight, and vibrant colors, PET felt is popular for interior applications, office furnishings, educational environments, and exhibitions.
PET felt is also easy to process. Besides laser cutting, you can saw it, cut it with a utility knife, and glue it with, for example, mounting adhesive.

Laser cutting offers a lot of design freedom. You can have almost any contour, text, or image cut from the material.
The laser cut is approximately 0.2 mm wide and allows for sharp internal corners. This makes complex patterns, logos, and precise connections easy to achieve.

Large-Format Laser Cutting on the SPOTmaxi
Since late 2025, Snijlab has had two large-format laser cutters: the SPOTmaxis. With a working area of 2500 × 1300 mm, we can process boards up to furniture board dimensions.
For PET felt, this means that complete acoustic wall panels, large decorative pieces, and room dividers can now be cut from a single sheet. Previously, such designs often had to be split into multiple parts.
In addition, large-format laser cutting also offers advantages for smaller designs. More efficient nesting on larger sheets often results in less material waste.

Is there a quality difference between large-format and standard laser cutting?
No.
The SPOTmaxis are designed for the same high precision you expect from Snijlab. Thanks to an advanced optical system, the quality of the laser cut remains consistent across the entire working area.
Even with large parts, dimensional accuracy and cutting quality remain consistent.
Is large-format laser cutting much more expensive?
No. The price is not relatively more expensive. In fact, for some designs, it can even be more cost-effective because larger sheets are utilized more efficiently.
The main factors for the price of laser cutting are the cutting length, the material surface area, and the delivery time. For each design, the price is calculated by the website, so you only pay for exactly what you order.
At Snijlab, you never have to purchase an entire sheet. We cut your design, and you only pay for the material surface area you need. Do you have a 150 x 70 cm design? No problem, this will be cut from a 240 x 120 cm sheet, but you only pay for the 150 x 70 cm you need.
