Materials for large-format laser cutting

Operator bediend SPOTmaxi 11

Snijlab has two new large-format laser machines that allow us to cut now on furniture panel size: 244 × 122 cm. Until now, our machines could process a maximum of 120 × 60 cm, but with the SPOTmaxis, it is now possible to laser cut large wooden and plastic sheets in one piece. Thicker materials can also be cut in this format from now on.

In this blog, you will find an overview of the materials currently available for large-format ordering. We are starting with a versatile selection and will expand this range in the near future. Not all materials are currently in furniture panel size in stock, but the current list offers a wide range of possibilities.

Just like with other formats, you also order large-format items per part, not per full sheet. For example, do you have a design of 150 × 100 cm? Then you only pay for the material surface area you need.

Large-format laser cutting works as you are used to: upload your drawing, choose a material, and order directly online. Do you want to know how the process works? View the explanation on this page.

Below you will find an overview of all materials we currently offer in large format.

Large-format wood laser cutting

Wood is a good material for furniture, models, panels, and also several technical applications. Thanks to the larger working area, you can now have entire panels, such as a 244x122 plywood sheet or a 244x122 wooden sheet, cut entirely to size. Ideal for anyone who wants a custom furniture panel laser cut.

Lime plywood (2400 x 1200 mm)

  • Maximum format: 2400 × 1200 mm
  • Thicknesses: 3, 6, 9 and 18 mm
  • Available: yes

Lime is light, sleek, and flat. The sheets have a uniform color and hardly any knots, making them excellent for interior components, decoration, artworks, and custom constructions. Due to the cross-bonded layers, the material is strong and stable, even with large surfaces.

Thinner sheets have extra stiffness along the grain direction, making them suitable for precision work and models.

Birch plywood (1200 × 1200 mm)

  • Maximum format: 1200 × 1200 mm
  • Thicknesses: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 9 mm
  • Available: yes

Birch is a strong, hard wood type with a recognizable, natural grain pattern. The material consists of multiple layers glued crosswise, making it dimensionally stable. Its light color and calm structure make it suitable for furniture, casings, displays, and models.

Soon you can also expect 18mm Birch plywood. We will double the maximum format to 2400 x 1200 mm in the future.

MDF (2400 × 1200 mm)

  • Maximum format: 2400 × 1200 mm
  • Thicknesses: 2, 3, 4, 6 and 9 mm
  • Available: in the coming weeks

MDF is homogeneous, strong, and affordable. Thanks to its uniform composition, it is ideal for sleek designs, prototypes, and projects that will be painted or finished after cutting. The material is suitable for furniture, models, constructions, and technical components such as 3D printer frames.

Veneered MDF (Oak, Ash, Walnut, Mahogany)

  • Maximum format: 2400 × 1200 mm
  • Thickness: 4 mm
  • Available: in the coming weeks

Oak (MDF core)

A warm appearance with a luxurious veneer layer. Beautiful for panels, displays, furniture, and lighting.

Ash (MDF core)

Light and fresh in color. Ideal for modern designs, models, and interior applications.

Walnut (MDF core)

A deep dark shade with a rich appearance, suitable for premium products, coverings, and signage.

Mahogany (MDF core)

Warm reddish-brown with an elegant appearance. Applicable for luxury objects, lamps, displays, and interior details.

Large-format plastics laser cutting

Plastics are very suitable for technical components, prototypes, machine construction, and displays. The materials below are now available in large formats.

POM / Polyacetal (2000 × 1000 mm)

  • Maximum format: 2000 × 1000 mm
  • Thicknesses: 0.5 mm, 1 mm, 1.5 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm and 8 mm
  • Available: yes
  • Color: white

POM is a strong plastic with high dimensional stability and excellent mechanical properties. You will find it in applications such as plain bearings, machine parts, mounting plates, sports components, and constructions where durability is important.

HDPE (2000 × 1000 mm)

  • Maximum format: 2000 × 1000 mm
  • Thicknesses: 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm
  • Available: yes
  • Color: black

HDPE is a robust plastic with a favorable price. The material is impact-resistant, smooth, chemically resistant, and does not absorb moisture. The black variant is suitable for outdoor use. It is applied in machine construction, the food industry, and technical constructions.

Large-format Acrylic laser cutting

Clear Acrylic (2000 × 1200 mm)

  • Maximum format: 2000 × 1200 mm
  • Thicknesses: 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm and 10 mm
  • Available: yes
  • Color: transparent colorless

Clear acrylic is transparent and lightweight, forming an ideal alternative to glass. It is used for front panels, casings, light objects, advertising products, and displays. The cut edges become beautifully glossy.

Glossy Acrylic (2000 × 1200 mm)

  • Maximum format: 2000 × 1200 mm
  • Thicknesses: 3 mm and 8 mm
  • Available: yes
  • Color: white and black

A high-gloss, opaque sheet that is very suitable for displays, logos, panels, and interior products. Available in white and black up to 200 x 120 cm.

Ordering large format

All large-format materials are visible in the shopping cart after uploading your drawing. On this page, you can read how ordering from Snijlab works. As soon as you choose a material, the website automatically checks if your design fits within the available dimensions. Large sheets can be delivered by courier or picked up yourself. When picking up, pay attention to the size; a 122x244 furniture panel or furniture board does not fit in every car.
