Materials for large-format laser cutting

Operator bediend SPOTmaxi 11

Snijlab has two new large-format laser machines, allowing us to cut to furniture board size: 244 x 122 cm. Previously, our machines could only handle a maximum of 120 x 60 cm, but with the SPOTmaxis, it's now possible to laser-cut large wood and plastic panels in a single piece. Thicker materials can now also be cut to this size.

This blog post provides an overview of the materials currently available for large-format orders. We're starting with a versatile selection and will be expanding this range in the coming weeks. While not all materials are currently in stock in furniture panel format, the current list offers a wide range of possibilities.

Just like with other sizes, you order large-format prints per component, not per full sheet. For example, if you have a design measuring 150 x 100 cm, you only pay for the material surface area you need.

Large-format laser cutting works just like you're used to: upload your drawing, choose a material, and order directly online. Want to know how the process works? Check out the explanation on this page .

Below you will find an overview of all materials that we currently offer in large format.

Large-format wood laser cutting

Wood is a great material for furniture, models, panels, and several technical applications. Thanks to the larger working area, you can now have entire panels, such as a 244x122 cm plywood sheet or a 244x122 cm wooden panel, cut to size. Ideal for those who want to have custom furniture panels laser-cut.

Linden plywood (2400 x 1200 mm)

  • Maximum size: 2400 × 1200 mm
  • Thicknesses: 3, 6, 9 and 18 mm
  • Available: yes

Linden is light, sleek, and flat. The panels have a uniform color and minimal knots, making them ideal for interior design, decorative elements, artwork, and custom construction. The cross-ply construction makes the material strong and stable, even over large surfaces.

Thinner plates have extra stiffness along the grain direction and are therefore suitable for precision work and models.

Birch plywood (1200 × 1200 mm)

  • Maximum size: 1200 × 1200 mm
  • Thicknesses: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 9 mm
  • Available: yes

Birch is a strong, hard wood with a distinctive, natural grain. The material consists of multiple layers that are cross-glued, making it dimensionally stable. Its light color and subtle texture make it suitable for furniture, cabinets, displays, and models.

You can also expect 18mm birch plywood soon. We'll be doubling the maximum size to 2400 x 1200 mm in the future.

MDF (2400 × 1200 mm)

  • Maximum size: 2400 × 1200 mm
  • Thicknesses: 2, 3, 4, 6 and 9 mm
  • Available: in the coming weeks

MDF is homogeneous, strong, and affordable. Its consistent structure makes it ideal for sleek designs, prototypes, and projects that require lacquering or finishing after cutting. The material is suitable for furniture, models, constructions, and technical components such as 3D printer frames.

Veneered MDF (Oak, Ash, Walnut, Mahogany)

  • Maximum size: 2400 × 1200 mm
  • Thickness: 4 mm
  • Available: in the coming weeks

Oak (MDF core)

A warm look with a luxurious veneer. Beautiful for panels, displays, furniture, and lighting.

Ash (MDF core)

Light and fresh in color. Ideal for modern designs, models, and interior applications.

Nuts (MDF core)

A deep dark shade with a rich appearance, suitable for premium products, cladding and signage.

Mahogany (MDF core)

Warm reddish brown with an elegant appearance. Suitable for luxury objects, lamps, displays, and interior details.

Large-format plastics

Plastics are ideal for technical components, prototypes, mechanical engineering, and displays. The materials listed below are now available in large formats.

POM / Polyacetal (2000 × 1000 mm)

  • Maximum size: 2000 × 1000 mm
  • Thicknesses: 0.5mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 5mm, 6mm and 8mm
  • Available: yes
  • Color: white

POM is a strong plastic with high dimensional stability and excellent mechanical properties. It is used in applications such as plain bearings, machine parts, mounting plates, sports components, and structures where durability is important.

HDPE (2000 × 1000 mm)

  • Maximum size: 2000 × 1000 mm
  • Thicknesses: 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm
  • Available: yes
  • Color: black

HDPE is a robust, affordably priced plastic. The material is impact-resistant, smooth, chemically resistant, and moisture-resistant. The black version is suitable for outdoor use. It is used in mechanical engineering, the food industry, and technical structures.

Clear acrylic (2000 × 1200 mm)

  • Maximum size: 2000 × 1200 mm
  • Thicknesses: 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm and 10mm
  • Available: yes
  • Color: transparent colorless

Clear acrylic is transparent and lightweight, making it an ideal alternative to glass. It is used for front panels, housings, lighting fixtures, advertising products, and displays. The cut edges have a beautiful sheen.

Acrylic gloss (2000 × 1200 mm)

  • Maximum size: 2000 × 1200 mm
  • Thicknesses: 3 mm and 8 mm
  • Available: yes
  • Color: white and black

A high-gloss, opaque sheet ideal for displays, logos, panels, and interior products. Available in white and black up to 200 x 120 cm.

Order large format

All large-format materials are visible in the shopping cart after you upload your drawing. This page explains how ordering from Snijlab works. Once you choose a material, the website automatically checks whether your design fits within the available dimensions. You can have large panels delivered by courier or pick them up yourself. When picking up your order, please pay attention to the size; a 122x244 cm furniture board or a furniture panel won't fit in every car.
