Semi-transparent 'milk glass' acrylic. Ideal for lighting applications.
Characteristics
Opal white cast acrylic (pmma). This acrylic lets 48% of the light through, giving you a nice spread of light. It has a glossy surface.
Applications
For example, you can make light boxes from opal acrylic, because the light from, for example, an LED strip can be nicely distributed so that you no longer see the individual LEDs, but one illuminated surface. It can also be used for other types of fixtures, LED lamps and other lighting installations. It is particularly useful that you can cut it directly into any shape with laser cutting, including mounting holes, ventilation grilles, etc. In model making, opal acrylic is used, for example for facades of models.
