Properties
Poplar is a soft wood species that can be laser cut to larger thicknesses than birch, for example, due to its low weight. In absolute terms, it is less rigid and strong than birch plywood, but the availability of thick boards allows larger objects to be made.
Applications
This material lends itself to load-bearing applications such as model aircraft, (large) boat models and art installations. It is also a suitable choice for signs and the like (if finished for outdoor use).
