Strong, cost-effective and easy to use.

MDF is a pressed and glued wood-fibre board. It is relatively heavy but also stiff and strong. It has a homogeneous density profile (the material is equally strong in all directions and areas) and low thickness tolerances (the thickness varies little).

Typical applications: Due to its low cost and high strength, MDF is ideal for all kinds of projects and prototypes. It is the most natural choice for objects that will still be finished or painted after laser-cutting, as well as objects that require no finishing. MDF is also a suitable material for technical applications, such as 3D printer chassis. Some examples of different applications include:
-form studies
-3D sculptures
-mechanical constructions
-sectional models

Finishing: MDF can be sanded and painted. Because the material is highly absorbent, it should always be treated with an MDF primer prior to painting.

Bonding: Due to its good thickness tolerances, MDF lends itself well not only to gluing but also form-fitting joints and even press-fits. Thanks to its flexible nature, the material also lends itself well to snap-locks and sninges.

Appearance: The surface is smooth, brown and with small visible fibres. Laser-cut edges are brown to black and leave no deposits. Surface engraving is possible, resulting in a dark-brown surface. The gases released through the engraving process can leave scorch marks around the engraving. Line engraving is also possible, resulting in dark-brown lines. These are usually free of scorching, except when fine details are involved or in the case of double-engraved lines.
