Cost-effective, responsible and strong. In addition to its traditional applications, such as for packaging, it is also suitable for inexpensive prototyping and for making large objects.

Corrugated cardboard is made up of a fluted middle layer sandwiched between two flat linerboards made of strong paper. The depth of the fluting/corrugation determines the thickness of the sheet. The material is stiff in the direction of the fluted channels and rather less so in the other direction. Brown corrugated cardboards are made with up to 80% recycled paper.


Typical applications: Corrugated cardboard is ideal for prototyping and form studies of objects large and small. Interesting applications involving light can also be made, making use of the corrugated channels. Some examples of different applications include:
-cardboard furniture
-art objects
-layered 3D sculptures
-sectional models

Design: Take the channel direction into account during the design process. To make folds, dotted or dashed lines can be cut into the material which can then be creased. Engraved lines are less suitable for folding lines as they weaken the surface layer, which can result in tearing.

Finishing: Painting is possible, however you should ensure that both the front and back sides are painted to prevent warping. Use a paint with a low water content to preserve the integrity of the cardboard.

Bonding: This material can be glued with wood glue or multi-purpose glue. We recommend spray adhesive or double-sided adhesive film for gluing surfaces.

Appearance: The laser-cut is especially narrow and there is hardly any visible discolouration. The laser-cutting process will result in some residual soot around the edges. This can be easily removed by wiping around the edges with a dry cloth. Surface and line engravings are possible in principle, but do weaken the material significantly.
